Overview
Label and Label Template sharing works like a public exchange: Any Label or Template you've created can be shared with the entire site, and you can use and copy any Label or Template any other users has shared

Clicking the "Label Sharing..." link on the Label Maker page, opens the Label Sharing dialog. The dialog is broken up into four parts:
  • Your Label Templates - A list of all the Label Templates you've created
  • Your Labels - A list of all the Labels you've created
  • Public Templates - A list of public Label Templates available to you
  • Public Labels - A list of public Labels available to you
Both the Public Templates list and The Public Labels list are searchable. Templates are searchable for name, and Labels are searchable for Name, Basis, and Template Name

Additionally, between the lists of Your Items and Public Items, is a set of buttons to handle Sharing and Copying

Copying Public Labels and Templates
Copying a Label or Template is as simple as clicking on the Label or Template, and pressing the button. The Label or Template will be added to your List.

Label Templates are listed with their Name (generally the product name of the sheet of labels), the individual label size, the number of labels across by tall (X/Y), and the overall page size.

Labels are listed with their Name, the name of the Template they are based on, and what Label Basis they use. Additionally, hovering your mouse cursor over a Label row will show you a preview of the Label

Copying a Label that is based on a Label Template you don't have will also add that Label Template to your list

Any Label or Template in your list that is copied from the public is marked with "(copy)"

Copied Labels and Templates are still owned by whomever created them unless you duplicate the label or template for yourself

Removing a copied Label or Template from your list
Click the label or template in "Your Labels" or "Your Label Templates" and click the button

Duplicating a copied Label
You can duplicate a copied Label or Template and make it your own, giving you permission to edit it
  • Copy the Label or Template to your list, then close the Label Sharing dialog
  • Select the Label or Template from the "Select a Label" or "Select a Label Template" dropdown to load it's details into the Label Designer area
  • Select "Create..." from the "Select a Label" or "Select a Label Template" dropdown

At this point you should have the details and design of the Label or Template you'd like to duplicate showing in the Label Designer or Template Options column. You've also selected "Create..." from the relevant dropdown menu.

You can change the name of the Label or Template, or you can keep the existing name. Remember that your duplicate won't have the "(copy)" mark, so you'll be able to tell them apart

Click the "Save Label" or "Save Template" link to create your new Label or Template

Finally, you should open the Label Sharing dialog again and use the button to remove the Copied label, leaving your new duplicate in place

Sharing your Labels to the public
You can share your Labels and Templates to the other users on the site. You are encouraged to so do if you've created a label that doesn't exist in the Public Labels already, or if you've made an improvement on an existing one

There are a couple requisites before you share your own Labels and Templates: You must validate your email address (click your username in the top right hand of any screen and follow the instructions), and you must have spent a certain amount of time on the site and reached certain milestones. These limitations are to prevent spam or unwanted content in general. Once you are able to share, the button becomes visible

Sharing your Labels or Templates
Select your Label or Template for the "Your Label" list, and click the button. You'll see a mark appear next to your item. You won't see your Label or Template appear in the Public Labels or Templates, to avoid you trying to copy your own items by accident

Unsharing your Labels or Templates
Select you Labels or Templates in the "Your Label Templates" and "You Labels" list, and click the button. The mark will disappear, and any use who copied your label will no longer have access. Note that users who have duplicated a label for themselves retail their duplicates
